MICHO Sredojevic has invited URA FC custodian Brian Bwete to Uganda Cranes squad preparing for next month’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Bwete joins goalkeepers Benjamin Ochan, Franco Oringa and Ismael Watenga.

The youthful goalkeeper is expected to provide competition for the trio of Ochan, Oringa and Watenga.

While visiting the Uganda Cranes’ training session on Monday, FUFA president Moses Magogo promised whatever it takes to make the team competitive at the championship due in South Africa.

“As administrators we promise to play our part to motivate you then of course we shall expect good results in return. In our group (A) we are underdogs but let us surprise them by topping the group because I know it’s possible if we believe,” Magogo said.

“Mind you this is your lifetime opportunity to change your career lest you blow it away.”

The FUFA executive committee last week dismissed all international friendly matches and residential training sessions that Micho had proposed to the federation, for financial reasons.

The Uganda Cranes are placed in Group B alongside Burkina Faso, Morocco and Zimbabwe.

The Cranes will play their first match of the championships against the Burkinabe at Athlone Stadium on January 12.

It will be the Uganda Cranes second successive appearance at the championship.

In the first edition held in Khartoum in 2011, Cranes were eliminated in the preliminary round.

The Cranes broke off for Christmas holiday and will resume training on Friday.
