HOLDERS Ndejje University boosted their chances of retaining the Inter-University games crown after snatching the first three gold medals in Woodball.
“The fairways are tough but we are focused for victory. Our team is in high spirits. Loosing will be a surprise to Ndejje,” boasted top seed Lilian Zawedde after Tuesday’s action.
Ndejje bagged the first gold medal when Lilian Zawadde/Charity Agaba (52) beat Viola Operu and Cissy Nakato (57) in an all-Ndejje final in the women’s doubles.
Onesmus Atamba and Daniela Nabukalu (52) beat Collins Kamoga (66) in the mixed doubles.
The other gold went to another Ndejje pair Joel Adupa and Bruno Bbosa (55) who beat MUBS’ John Mary Musiime/Francis Tumwebaze (59) in the men’s doubles.
In basketball, UCU coach Nicholas Natuhereza promised to take the war to the top guns Ndejje and KIU.
“I know KIU and Ndejje are favourites but we shall see how to handle them,” Natuhereza said after his team comfortably beat Kampala University 51-36.
In football, KCC FC player Rogers Aloro grabbed a brace as Ndejje thumped Kabale University 4-0. Hood Kalumba and Joseph Muhiya added the other two goals.

The 15th edition of the annual event enters a crucial stage with a hot race expected between Ndejje, KIU, Nkumba in the track and field events on Wednesday.
Dorcus Ajok, Annet Chebet and Thomas Rono are some of the national athletics stars who will hit the track.
The weeklong championship has drawn 20 teams with competition in 16 events.
