In the aftermath of Uganda’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Micho Sredojevic was credited for Cranes’ remarkable attempt in the campaign.

Despite collapsing at the hands of Senegal in the 1-0 defeat in Marrakech, the Serbian was saluted for excelling in all his primary roles.

During the two-leg qualifiers of the Africa Nations Championships, Micho still excelled. He chose the right tactics and selected the right players as Uganda earned a place the championship that starts on January 11 and ends on February 1.

But with approximately a month to the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in domestic leagues, Micho finds himself facing his stiffest challenge ever. He finds himself with touch choices to make.
Suffice it to say that if the Serbian fails in his latest test, then Uganda might register its worst performance in the championship in South Africa.

Micho is of course still aware of the team’s disastrous outing in the 2011edition, during which hosts Sudan, North African giants Algeria and Gabon conspired with Gabon to deny them a single win in Group B.
“If we implement the plan I have, I believe, with due respect to the opposition, the Cranes will make the knock out stages,” Micho told New Vision, minutes after Uganda was drawn in a competitive Group B that also includes Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Morocco.
But in the next three weeks, the Serbian will need to fix weaknesses within the team’s ranks before disaster strikes in South Africa.
