Daisy misses sh150m Tusker cash

Ugandan songbird Daisy Ejang has missed the sh150m Tusker Project Fame award, which was won by Hope Irakoze from Burundi.

Hope was last night crowned regional winner of the hotly contested Tusker Project Fame Season Six. The win in Kenya’s Nairobi last evening brought to an end a stiff regional battle for the ultimate prize of Ksh5m ( Ug sh150m) and a one-year recording contract.

The sixth edition of East Africa’s biggest singing contest kicked o off on October 13. The annual TV reality show was broadcast on television in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan. The show provides a platform for training raw talent from East Africa for better careers. This year’s edition had duos from Uganda and Kenya allowed compete alongside individuals.

The regional search entered 15 contestants in the music academy. Uganda’s past winners of the competition are Esther Nabaasa, who won Season Two and Davis Hillary Ntare, who beat 14 contestants to emerge the winner of Season Four.

Uganda’s other contestants this year included: the Undercover Brothers, Sitenda Kisakye and Derrick Kojjo. Ejang the youngest of six children, best describes herself as an independent woman. Aged 21, the worship leader was among the last three contestants in the Tusker Project Fame TPF Season Six.

Her big voice was such an asset that other contestants referred to as ‘the voice to beat’ in this year’s competition. Ejang will be remembered for taking on tough songs by artistes like Rolling in the deep by Adele, Survivor by Destiny’s Child and Sondela by Ringo Madlingozi. All her stage performances were incredible.
