NOT one to be content with local success, Willy Kitatta coming off three back-to-back victories at home will this weekend head to Kenya for two major tournaments.

Kitatta who won the Kakira Open, Lira and Kinyara Open in a space of three weeks will tackle the Kampala leg of the Barclays Series this Friday and connect to Nairobi the next day.

“I want to arrive early so I have several practice rounds,”Kitatta pointed out.

He will compete in the Uhuru Open at Royal Golf and Country Club which tees off midweek and immediately jump on a bus to Mombasa for the Nyali Open slated for the following week.

The Ugandan who reached the final of the Kenya Matchplay Championship mid-season which he lost to Nelson Simwa hopes to claim his first win in Kenya.

“I am mentally stronger now. The training I had in Europe tremendously improved my mental aspect of the game which used to be my weakness. My mental strength is now at an international level. I am no longer the golfer who used to be distracted easily,” Kitatta stated.

Kitatta’s consistent participation in the Kenya tournament could earn him slot in the 2014 Barclays Kenya Open which is part of the European Tour.

The Entebbe Golf Club member who intends to turn professional in Europe next year has this season played in Burundi, Rwanda and Kenya to boost his game.
