Lukwago’s fate now lies in the hands of 30 councilors, who will vote this month whether to censure him.

The tribunal, chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemeriere, has handed over the report to minister in charge of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Frank Tumwebaze on Thursday.

“It is the overall finding of the Tribunal that the petitioners successfully proved eight of the twelve particulars pleaded,” Bamugemereire stated.

“The tribunal thus finds that on the basis of the standard of proof adopted earlier in this report, the petitioners have proved a prima facie case for the removal of Mr Erias Lukwago from the position of Lord Mayor of Kampala capital city,” she added.

In June this year, 17 councilors petitioned the minister, who set up the tribunal to investigate the allegations.

The Tribunal was tasked to establish whether the allegations in the councilors’ petition satisfy the grounds Lukwago’s removal from office.
