Blick, Nsumba reign supreme at Busiika

DESPITE acquiring a 2014 KTM 85cc bike, Ali Omar Yasser could not manage to beat rival Alistair Blick who is determined to win this year’s national championship in the 85cc category.

Omar crashed thrice while in the lead in the first heat and once in the second heat, giving rival Blick the opportunity to stretch his lead atop the national table standing to 8 points from 5 points.

“It was a new bike and he is not used to its strength but we still have a chance to train and make a comeback in the last round,” Omar Snr stated as the frustrated youngster declined to speak to the press.

It was a day of upsets as Ben Nsumba and Fortune Ssentamu won the 50cc and 65cc category respectively leaving Waleed Omar and Wazir Omar to settle for the second place.

Nsumba who earlier promised to upset his rival Waleed in the 50cc category fulfilled the promise as he won with 72 points, replacing the latter on top of the overall standings.

Nsumba tops the table with 489 points, three points ahead of Omar (486) and his father attributed the victory to hard training and determination.

“We trained hard and we were determined not only to win this event but to set an advantage of winning the championship,” Steven Lyazi Nsumba’s father stated.

In the 65cc category Fortune Sentamu continued to dominate stretching his overall tally to 483 points, fourteen ahead of contender Wazir Omar.

In the MX2 category, despite not competing in the 7th round of the national championship due to his S.4 examinations, Talha Kiggundu maintained his lead with 438 points, 45 points ahead of second placed Fatuh Kiggundu.

Ahmed Tamale won the event but stayed in third position overall on 379 points, behind his cousins Talha (438) and Fatuh (393).

Arthur Blick Jnr excited fans on his way to winning the MX1 category.

The crowd was later entertained by South African free-style rider Nick De Wit who executed breathtaking aerial somersaults with his bike.
