Uganda’s agricultural sector employs over 73% of the population directly, majority of whom are small holder farmers. However, despite their immense contribution to agricultural GDP, the smallholder farmers experience several production challenges.

Uganda’s agricultural sector employs over 73% of the population directly, majority of whom are small holder farmers. However, despite their immense contribution to agricultural GDP, the smallholder farmers experience several production challenges.

These include poor access to requisite technology; low yields, low incomes; lack of credit financing, climate change and variability among others. Despite these challenges, the smallholder farmers have continued to feed the country, currently contributing 95% of total food production
