UGANDA’S opening match at the ICC World T20 Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates is just over a month away.

This is what makes the visit to Uganda of England’s prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for a 10-day tour so timely.

The national cricket squad needs as much examination as it can get before setting foot in UAE’s plush Sheik Zayed or the Sharjah Cricket stadiums.

Following a highly successful 10-day trial-tour in South Africa where they won eight of nine matches, Johan Rudolph’s national side now have another opportunity to test themselves against high quality opponents.

The MCC will face Uganda Select XIs in a two-day game, two 50/50 overs matches and one T20 contest.

A Rwanda XI will later join the fray for a two-day Triangular T20 series but it is the MCC that is focus of Uganda’s attention.
