Two students died in a fatal accident involving bodaboda motorcycle and a saloon car on the Mityana -Mubende highway on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at Namagogo village near Brund petrol station, just one kilometer to Mubende town.

Alex Mulamuzi the traffic officer at Mubende police station identified the deceased as Micheal Nyanzi 17, a student of Tiger SS in Mubende town and his colleague also a student identified as Joseph.

Nyanzi was traveling on a motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer registration number UDZ  788S, which rammed into a salon car, a Toyota Premio, registration number UAR 914 H.

Mulamuzi explained that the students entered the road after buying fuel and collided with a car which was over speeding, heading to Mubende town from Kampala.

“The cyclists did not mind about what was on the main road, but they just enter road, and were hit by the car,” he said.
He said Nyanzi died on spot while the second victim was rushed to Mubende hospital, where he was admitted in critical conditions.

He however died later on Friday morning but his relatives were not known by Friday afternoon. Eye witnesses blamed the accident to the reckless riding of the students, saying that being a highway; they had to take extra care.

Police said they were still looking for the relatives of the second student but the body of Nyanzi was released to relatives.
He warned that owners of the vehicles should stop giving them out to young people and those who are not allowed to ride or drive.
