FDC youth wing elects new leaders

THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) youth on Tuesday elected new leaders. Idi Ouma was elected national chairperson to be deputised by four members from different regions.

 

These include Warid Mulindwa (Central), Zerida Kakai (Eastern), Eric Chadiga (Northern) and Ismail Kasule (Western).

 

Khan Izati is treasurer, Joan Alobo is secretary general, James Kasule is secretary mobilization and also elected is Henry Mpiima in charge of publicity.

 

Ouma promised to build party’s youth wing structures at all levels and rejuvenate the party.

 

He also announced that his office would open up a data bank, in which members would compile the services needed in their areas.

 

The new secretary general Joan Alobo pledged to improve service delivery of the party’s youth. 

 

“I will also arrange for constant dialogue with mother party leadership to pay attention to issues affecting the youth in the party,” she said.

 

She added that this peaceful handover ceremony has challenged them towards working hard to develop the party.

 

The ceremony was witnessed by city lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuzi. Other party members included National party chairperson Wasswa Birigwa and acting president Reagan Okumu among others.

 

Birigwa tasked the youth to stay focused and open minded.

 

“Work hard towards the building of party structures from grassroots to national level,” he said.

 

Birigwa said that he wants to see FDC take leadership of the country adding that this can be achieved because of their vibrant youth wing.

 

“Some of us are old but you’re still young and energetic. The hope of this country is in your hands, please work towards causing a regime change,” Biligwa said.
