Oyo was crowned in 1995 following the death of his father Omukama Patrick Olimi Kaboyo.

The King, who is currently outside the Kingdom, is expected back next week as he waits to celebrate the anniversary.

According to Benjamin Gusalire, the kingdom finance minister, and spokesperson, each clan is expected to provide a minimum of sh500,000 towards the budget for the fete.

Every County Chief has been directed to mobilize a minimum of sh1,000,000.

Sh700m has been budgeted for the function. About 60 % of the funds are to be raised by the kingdom while 40 percent is expected from well-wishers and central government.

Gusalire said that celebrations will start with activities such as a health camp, road safety campaign, clans’ football tournament, among others, which will be crowned with the actual celebrations on September 12
