She Cranes are expected back from the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney Australia on Tuesday August 18, 2015.

The ladies, who finished eighth overall out of 16 countries are expected to be picked from the airport and driven to parliament for recognition of their efforts in the country's second World Cup in three decades.

The She Cranes first featured in the competition when it was called Netball World Championship in 1979.

But the 2015 Sydney World Cup was Uganda’s first indoor hurdle and their overall eighth position ahead of Trinidad and Tobago, Samoa, Fiji, Scotland, Barbados, Zambia, Singapore and Sri Lanka has left the women moving with their heads high.

Sixteen teams took part in the Showpiece won by hosts Australia.

The She Cranes faced Wales on Sunday in the battle for the seventh place but lost 64-41 to finish eighth.

She Cranes team captain Peace Proscovia  had wonderful execution in the circle – scoring 31 goals from 34 attempts. Proscovia  scored a total of 243 goals in the tournament to conclude it as the fifth top scorer.

It was not clear by press time whether or not Goal attacker Rachael Nanyonga, Rukia Meeme and Halima Nakachwa will be on-board back home as the media in Australia has linked the trio as potential players to land professional careers there.

Nanyonga has scored 136 goals out of 170 attempts, meanwhile mid-fielders Meeme and Nakachwa have a record of 88 and 55 assists respectively.
