Experts on vocational skills training have called for an urgent review in the Business, Technical, Vocational Education Training (BTVET) so as to benefit from the Skilling Uganda project.
According to a survey carried out in July this year by the Council for African Policy (CAP), on vocational training in the districts of Soroti, Ngora, Katakwi and Bukedea (Teso sub region ) where it was established that certain study courses on the BTVET curriculum are not developed to meet the market demands.
While presenting the findings at a stakeholder's dialogue held at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Denis Godwin Tumusiime, Programme Director CAP noted that Skilling Uganda is meant to make people employable but some of the courses that are being offered in the vocational schools are not tailored to the market demands.
