ADDIS ABABA - President Yoweri Museveni arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa Saturday for a consultative meeting on the IGAD-led peace process on South Sudan.

Museveni, who is in Ethiopian on the invitation of Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, was received at Bole International Airport by Dr. Fasil Nahum, Minister and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister and members of the Ugandan community in Ethiopia.

The Ugandan leader was later joined by Sudan President Omar Al-Bashir for a closed-door meeting with their host ahead of the consultative plenary meeting on Sunday.

Meanwhile, South Sudan's government has said it will continue with peace talks to end the 20-month civil war, but without President Salva Kiir attending.

IGAD has been struggling to secure a peace deal in the face of deep divisions among South Sudan’s warring factions, and had pushed for a final deal to be signed on August 17.
