RETIRED Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo has been hailed as someone who practices what he preaches after he celebrated 50 years in marriage.

This was at a function that took place on Thursday at St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe, where he was wed as a lay leader on May 1, 1965.

The main celebrant Archbishop Stanley Ntagali, Kampala Archdiocese Bishop Cyprian Kizito, Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga all praised the retired bishop for having kept faith in the institute of marriage, which is the foundation of the country and its development.

"You have been an example to man. You have shown that you have built up a family and the results are the children that you have brought up and grandchildren. We praise God for that," said Ntagali during his sermon.

He said it is that love which is patient and kind that has seen them move that far.

The Kabaka, in a message read on his behalf  by Prince Crispin Jjunju,  thanked him for the good work done, and prayed that he becomes an example to man in building a stronger family.

President Yoweri Museveni in a message read on his behalf by Prime Minister Dr.  Ruhakana Rugunda, reminded youth to respect the family institution.

"Family is a foundation of any society or nation. We are celebrating a clear indication that you have stood the test of time and set an example to many as a family institution."
