MTN Heathens’ inclusion of experience in Allan Otim and Romano Ogwal paid off with victory in the third round of the Sevens Circuit at Kyadondo on Saturday.

Ogwal and Otim were rested in the first and second rounds as Heathens, like other top clubs, fielded understrength teams.

The addition of the duo was even felt more when they each scored a try as Heathens whipped Sadolin Mongers 31-17.

Chris Lubanga and Raymond Ssembajwe were among the other try scorers in the final.

Heathens tightened its grip atop the table with 60 points, 12 ahead of Rams and Buffaloes who are tied in second position on 48 apiece. The last round will be held in Mbarara next weekend.

“It is good to head for the last round with a 12-point lead but it is not all over. We have to win all our games,” Heathens coach Brian Tabaruka remarked.

Heathens who have already won the Uganda Cup and League only need to make the main semi-final to claim the Sevens Circuit as well.

Mongers caused an early scare when they scored first but Heathens replied with two tries for a 14-5 halftime lead.

In the second half Heathens stepped their act, stretching their lead to 31-5 lead. Then, late in the game Mongers scored two tries to reduce the gap to 31-17.

Rams and Sailors won the Plate and Bowl events respectively.
