KAMPALA - His videos had eight nominations, and managed to scoop four at the maiden Club Music Video Awards held at UMA conference hall, Lugogo last night.

The occasion fitted the night with a stage-set adorned with a series of giant video screens that covered the back of the stage and the arena's Jumbotron scoreboard that relayed the nominees’ names and winners.

It was a good feeling when the night’s deejay took the audience through a journey of music with songs like the Silikawo Baby by the late Menton Summer, Kakookolo, Bamusakata Mic Ya Zigidi and Hitaji.

Former Big Brother star Gaetano Kaggwa and media personality Caroline Mugasha were the hosts on the night who started up the event at 9:00pm with performances from Afrigo Band’s Joanitah Kawalya and Moses Matovu who did Jim and Sikulimba.

But it was the appearance of local kick boxer Golola Moses that revved up the mood on the night when he tore his jacket sleeves off and repeated his famous lines.

Navio’s videos that won included Kata for Best Choreography, Best Costume and make-up and Best Set design, Awards that went to his brother Fred Kigozi.  The One and Only singer only collected the award for Best Inspiration Message Video, dressed in dark suits with a red t-shirt.

The other big winners were a new producer on block, Kino Musoke, who took home two awards for Best Directing and Cinematography. The youthful producer whose efforts on GNL Zamba’s animated Power was a breath of fresh air on the music scene was overwhelmed when receiving the award from Vision Group’s marketing guru Susan Nsibirwa and Kinetric Group CEO Cedric Babu.
