As a child, life was not easy for Godfrey Kaye. Following his mother’s death, he sought refuge with his stepsister as he could not cope with his father’s other wife.
He often missed school due to lack of school fees. But Kaye never gave up on education. From employing cunning just to make it from one class to another, he did just about everything from peddling paraffin on the streets to growing crops to get school fees.
Today, he is an entrepreneur in the education business; the sole proprietor of Godfrey Foundation Schools, three big primary schools in Kampala. He told Maureen Nakatudde how he beat the odds to achieve his dreams.
