Kampala RCC Aisha Kabanda quits for Butambala

KAMPALA Resident City Commissioner, Aisha Kabanda has resigned her job and joined the race for the Butambala district woman Member of Parliament seat

KAMPALA Resident City Commissioner, Aisha Kabanda has resigned her job and joined the race for the Butambala district woman Member of Parliament seat where she is expected, if she wins the NRM primaries, to battle out with the incumbent legislator, Mariam Nalubega.

 

Kabanda said she was tired of implementing what others decide on and wanted to be part of the law making process and be in a better position to lobby for government services for her district, which she described as one of the poorest in the country.

 

The Jinja East constituency loser in the 2011 elections, Nathan Igeme Nabeta also picked forms to make another attempt while new state minister for planning, David Bahati also wants to retain Ndorwa East constituency.

 

Former minister, Aggrey Siryoyi Awori picked forms for the Busia Municipality seat while Peter Magoomu Mashete wants Bungoko North seat.

 

The Luweero district chairman, Hajji Abdul Nadduli will be facing woman educationist, Rashida Birungi Kibaya, the director Genesis Education Centre who is also the chairperson of district NRM National Mobilizers and Cadres’ Association.

 

Jafari Basajjabalaba, the former district Public Accounts Committee chairman wants Bushenyi district chair while Irene Susan Akiror is contesting for the Serere district woman seat.   

 

Legislator Baker Ssali wants to retain the Buikwe County West looking at being part of the implementing team for the $8m grant from Debt Swap, a Spanish organization that has been offered for the construction of Lugazi Hospital.

 

Ssali also wants to continue with other programs including mobilizing people to plant coffee and ginger as one of the projects to help residents generate income.

The director Baroma Vocational International School, Easter Baroma wants to contest for the Mukono Municipality seat and pledged to make a difference if she is given chance. If Baroma sails through the party primaries, she will take on DP’s Betty Nambooze.

 

Former NRM electoral boss, Prof. Elijah Dickens Mushemeza showed up at his former workplace and picked forms interested in contesting for the Sheema South parliamentary seat as well as Silver Kakuronga Ruhindi who wants to take over the Rukingiri Municipality seat.

 

George Baitera Maiteki wants Kibanda County in Masindi while Matovu Kasule is looking at Ibanda South, whereas Charles Wepukulu Wetuuma wants the NRM chair for Bulambuli district.

 

Loy Katale, an accountant wants Jinja district woman parliamentary seat while former Mpigi RDC Fred Bamwine wants the Kashari South seat in Mbarara.

 

Businessman and former chairperson youth council in Buganda, Leonard Rwegyema now wants to represent the same youth in parliament.

 

National Youth Council secretary for external relations and country representative to the commonwealth, James Okwir has joined many new comers who have come up to battle for the newly created Kachumbara constituency in Bukedea district.

 

Okwir wants to promote conservation of the environment and restore Uganda’s name as the Pearl of Africa through legislation. 

 

He said as a former member of the national youth council, which he said had become a nursery bed for training leaders in Uganda; he would use his experience in his previous posts to fight for the youth ton gain more from the NRM government.

 

Faisal Kikulukunyo who lost to DP’s Muwanga Kivumbi in the by-election in Butambala wants to contest again.

 

Dokolo county legislator, Felix Okot-Ogong also wants to retain his seat.
