THE comedy tour started last year by Mirinda people taking local comedians around the country to entertain comedy lovers who might not be familiar with them.

Somehow, it seemed like a flopped project after last year, because most comedians are Kampala-based and some of them are not really well acquainted with the jokes to do in certain areas.

But as a way to promote comedy in Uganda, the organisers gave it a second chance this year.

That chance was resumed last weekend when one bunch of comedians a la Patrick Salvado Idringi, Ronnie McVex, Alex Muhangi, Dolibondo, Bright Onak and Ehmah Napoleone had a stop in Mbarara, at the Heat bar to be precise, and another bunch led by MC Kapale, Arthur D’ Vaccine, Chicko/Shadrack and Snake/Zolo performed in Jinja, at Laftaz Comedy Lounge.

It was Eid al-Fitr, a public holiday, so definitely people were in mood to have fun at both venues. In Jinja, they also had musical performances from singer Jasmine and a few other singers from the region.

The tour will see comedians go to several other districts. Probably, this second edition will enable them fetch fresher material for their tribal jokes, considering they have been lambasted in recent months for not being creative with them.

The jury waits
