ENTEBBE Golf Club’s Peter Ssendawula has found himself embroiled in the least expected in-house battle with homeboys after defending champion Phillip Kasozi and 2011 champion Rogers Byaruhanga’s fortunes further diminished on day two.

Ssendawula who took a four-stroke lead on day one shot 75 on Thursday for a two-day aggregate of 143 to tie with Entebbe’s Robert Oluba who turned in 71 by close of play in Entebbe.

Patrick Mwaka another Entebbe club member is tied in third place with Mehta Club’s Ronnie Bukenya, four shots off the pace.

Willy Kitatta another Entebbe golfer is fifth, five strokes behind the leaders going into the third round of the four-day tournament.

“Golf is unpredictable anybody can have a good day. I will be calm tomorrow and hopefully maintain the lead going into the final day,” said the soft spoken Ssendawula who picked up a double bogey on hole 16.

Kasozi is 13 shots behind the leaders while Byaruhanga is a massive 25 strokes off the pace which has virtually put him out of contention.

In the professional category, Vincent Byamukama followed to up his opening round 67 with 68 to maintain the lead with 135, seven strokes clear of second placed Deo Akope and Richard Ainley.

The subsidiary category gets underway on Friday. The event ends on Saturday.
