Police are hunting for a South Sudanese student who stabbed a head boy of St. Micheal Ssonde S.S  to death over a suspension he got for sneaking a phone in school.

The form four student, Lual Nyok, 22, a Dinka, on Saturday night sneaked into the school in Mukono which borders a wetland, and stabbed Brian Rukundo, 18, while other students were attending night prep.

Nyok had been given a two-week suspension for illegally sneaking a smart phone in school after Rukundo reported him to school authorities.

Some of the students who witnessed the shocking incident told the Police that Nyok aimed for Rukundo's heart and sunk the knife deep, killing him almost instantly.

Students shouted for help as they tried to save their dying colleague, but could not do much.

Parents traumatised

Rukundo's father, James Rutahinga, reportedly passed out on getting the devastating news of his son's death. The Queen Elizabeth National Park employee had just recently been to school to check on his son.

Jackson Kato, an uncle to the deceased said the Sudanese student had just been suspended from school three days back but sneaked back to avenge his punishment because Rukundo had reported him.

Kato, who picked his nephew's body from Mulago hospital mortuary cautioned school authorities to be wary of Sudanese students who are accustomed to violence.

Irene Nabukalu, a resident who resides near the school said she heard students yelling on Saturday night and thought they were striking, only to learn of the shocking incident.

Police led by RPC Michael Ozere went to the school on Tuesday as investigations into the heinous crime take shape.

Police suspect Nyok had inside help as he seemed to easily track Rukundo with such timing that there were no teachers on duty that could have salvaged the situation and also managed to evade security.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said a manhunt is on for Nyok. Police interrogated Nyok's Sudanese friends about his possible destination.
