Uganda Cranes tactician has released the final squad to face the Taifa Star of Tanzania in the return leg of the first round of the CHAN qualifiers.

The game kicks off at 4pm at Nakivubo war memorial stadium, with the Tanzanians having an uphill task after a heavy 3-0 loss to Uganda in the first leg at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar two weeks ago.

It is rare for Uganda to find herself in a perfect position of making it to the next round of any continental engagement like it is now, in football circles.

That is why the Cranes tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will use today’s tie to prepare the U-23 team that will play Malawi in a friendly on Monday and Egypt in the qualifiers.

As it is now, Uganda needs a draw of any kind and can even afford a 2-0 loss today.

The winner meets Sudan in the final round of the qualifiers in October.

Immediately after the CHAN match, Micho and the Kobs will head to Lilongwe for the friendly with Malawi before taking on Egypt’s U-23 on July 18 in CAF Orange African Nations Championship.

“Since we are preparing for the games with Malawi and Egypt, we decided to drop Julius Ntambi and Sylvester Okello who do not fall in the U-23 and brought in Umar Kasumba and Tadeo Lwanga into the team,” Micho stated.

The friendly against Malawi will have strictly U-23 players as the team prepares to face Egypt in the third round to determine who makes it to the finals in Senegal in December.

The top three teams in Senegal will qualify to represent Africa for next year’s summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil.
