Church of Uganda has urged Christians and members of the public to fund raise for the rehabilitation of  Sanyu babies home.


Namirembe Diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira launched the fundraising drive Tuesday at the babies' home located at Namirembe Hill.

Approximately sh450m is required to accomplish the rehabilitation of the facility housing about 48 children.

A  5km marathon slated for August 8 starting from Namirembe Cathedral is being organized.

The launch coincided with the World’s commemoration of International Day of the African Child. 

During the launch Luwalira interacted with a group of US volunteers looking after the babies.

Sanyu Babies’ Home was established by Church of Uganda in 1929 is currently taking care of up to 48 parentless children out of 80 received every year.
