Uganda's Eddy Kenzo is among those nominated for the new BET Awards category, "Viewer's Choice Best New International Artist" in the annual American entertainment  awards slated for June 28 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA.

There are 20 categories but, unlike the others, this new category will solely be decided by fans and their votes. The catch is to find an artiste's presence on social media.

Kenzo's fans can start casting their votes on www.BET.com/ViewersChoiceIntl and on Instagram @BET_Africa using the hashtag #ipick. The deadline for voting is June 27, 2:00am.

The "Sitya Loss" singer got the nod alongside two new African artistes in South Africa's Cassper Nyovest, Ghana's Mz Vee and three from the UK in George The Poet, MIC Lowry and Novelist.

He is still reaping from his hit, "Sitya Loss," that had a video so captivating with well-choreographed dancing kids. That video garnered global attention and over 7,406,432 YouTube views, making it the highest viewed Ugandan video here and fifth in Africa, last year.
BET Awards are organised annually by America's Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.
The other African artists nominated include South Africa's Aka and The Soil, Nigeria's Wizkid and Yemi Alade, Ghana's Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, DRC's Fally Ipupa and Kenya's Sauti Sol , all nominated in the "Best International Act: Africa" category.

Tanzanian supermodel Millen Magese has already been awarded the inaugural "Global Good Award" in recognition of her philanthropic efforts in Africa.

The awards will premiere across Africa on BET (DStv channel 129) and BET2 (DStv channel 135) and on GOtv channel 23 on Tuesday 30 June at 9:00pm

Talented actors, comedic geniuses and on-screen co-stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross will be this year's hosts.
