Intelligence ruled the day as the Miss Uganda Eastern regional pageant was held at Laftaz’s Lounge in Jinja Saturday. But at the end 23-year-old Bridget Sanyu, who works as a therapist with autistic children at Dawn Children’s Centre in Bukoto, won the day.

The panel of judges; Phiona Bizzu, Janet Nalujya and Brenda Nanyonjo were spoilt for choice after the final five girls were almost even in the question and answer session.

All the contestants were spot on in that session with brilliant, intelligent and precise answers.

The presence of reigning Miss Uganda Leah Kalunguka could have played a role in boosting confidence and the mood among the contestants. It all started off with the contestants wearing jeans and T-shirts, then later came on wearing short purple dresses with yellow ribbons that was a match for the girls.

Then came the question and answer session where the girls showed off their intelligence.

In between the catwalk and question and answer sessions were musical performances from Irene Ntale who dazzled the audience with her performance of Gyobeera and her collabo with Jose Chameleon Easy (Chameleon was absent) but managed to pull off solo.

The Rnb Kyabazinga Maro did an impressive performance with his signature Mubbi Bubbi song which he did featuring David Lutalo; and kept his home fans on their feet as they danced to music from their very own.

Eventually the contestants were cut down to the top five; and then eventually the winner. The second and first runners up were Angelina Nakazi and Mutesi Josephine Nabirye.

Sanyu was crowned by Miss Uganda 2014 winner Leah Kalunguka and Miss Uganda Eastern Flavia Ibyara.

The Kampala pre-selection auditions for Miss Uganda 2015 will be held tomorrow at midday in Guvnor and the presentation of the final 20 contestants to boot camp on Thursday. The finals are due on 10th July at Kampala Serena Hotel.
