Sports Club Villa President Immanuel Misagga has urged fans of the club to ignore their current differences with FUFA and turn up for the Uganda Cranes 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Botswana.

Cranes take on Botswana in their opening match of the campaign at Mandela National Stadium Namboole on Saturday and Villa fans had on Wednesday resolved to boycott the match in protest.

FUFA has written to the Villa and KCCA to notify the clubs to replay the Uganda Cup final that aborted in Ntungamo.

The federation officials argue that the match has to be replayed because there was not enough security during the match at Kyamate stadium.

While addressing the press at Villa Park yesterday, Misagga said that, “let’s forget our sentiments at club levels and go for the national team match. I have offered to buy 100 tickets for Villa fans to go for the match. Personally I will also watch the match.”

Misagga had just dismissed FUFA’s call for the club to replay the entire 90minutes of the final arguing that Article 23 of federation competitions rules provide for them to play the remaining minutes of the match.

“We can only play the remaining minutes of the final. FUFA is in fault of their own rule and we shall appeal the decision to play the entire match,” Misagga said.

The Uganda Cup final between SC Villa and Kampala City Council aborted June 6 2015 at Kyamate playground after the 73rd minute.
