Musician Stacia Mayanja Monday went with friends and relatives to Buganda Road court where they camped as they waited for her husband, Abbas Mubiru to be produced in court over charges of obtaining money by false pretense.

Mubiru was arrested last week and detained at Bunamwaya Police Post over allegations of obtaining money by false pretense which prompted Ronald Danzi who had allegedly cashed him sh45m for a plot of land in Lubowa to run to police.

Danzi said he had been looking for Mubiru in vain until he saw a story on Bukedde TV that he had been detained in Bunamwaya and immediately reported to police that transferred him to the Central Police Station.

Stacia Mayanja and her friends on Monday gathered at CPS hoping that he would be released but police detectives instead whisked him to court after his file was sanctioned by the State Attorney.

Mayanja insulted and shouted at photographers who were taking her pictures as she waited from the court flower garden. She tried to dodge cameras and most of the women with her covered their faces.

Godfrey Ssemwogerere, father of Danzi told journalists that they were happy that at last Mubiru had been found and arrested.

He said they wanted to arrest Mubiru on his wedding day but his mother in law (Stacia’s mother) begged them not to humiliate him, which they accepted on condition that he would pay back some money but he went into hiding.

“We have been looking for him until we saw a story on Buekdde TV that he was being detained in Bunamwaya,” Ssemwogerere said.

Mayanja and Mubiru got married in March 2015 at Kibuli Mosque in a colorful Muslim ceremony despite earlier reports that the wedding had collapsed. They later hosted their guests at a reception at UMA show grounds, Lugogo.
