He was disappointed after the Uganda Sports Press Association refused to recognize his achievements last year, but body builder Ivan Byekwaso is determined to continue excelling at the international scene.

The 31 year old record Mr. Uganda and Mr. Kampala winner, is in serious training ahead of the INBA Natural Universe body building championship due in Austin, Texas, US in September.

Byekwaso's is among several international athletes who are expected to compete at this annual competition.

The muscleman and his manager have already secured air tickets worth sh11m for the event courtesy of Jack Pemba of sports promotion company Pemba Sports Africa.

Consequently, Byekwaso decided to skip the World Championship in Dubai this month and will now concentrate his energies on the Natural Universe and the Natural Olympiad in September and November respectively.

"We believe the Mr. Universe and the Olympia are bigger events compared to the World Championships so we want to concentrate on these, do well and may be focus on the World Championship again next year," Kamal Sabuni Byekwaso's manager said.

Last year Byekwaso won a silver and a bronze at the World Championships and the Natural Olympiad respectively and wants to build on that to continue excelling in the sport.
