Otieno destroys Warriors, Falcons fall again

Ndejje University Angels' Michael Otieno scored a season high 36 points to inspire his side to a 92-73 win over the Warriors at YMCA on Wednesday.


The small point guard grabbed 12 points from three point range (four of six ) and added 9 assists to guide the Angels to their third win of the season.

Jonah Otim added 24 points, with Brian Ssentongo and Brian Odur scoring 16 and 11 points for the Angels who on a good day can be menacing.

The Warriors (4-3) could not find their usual rhythm losing all the four quarters 19:17, 26:17, 23:16 and 24:23 respectively.

Not even the inclusion of Uganda Silverbacks guard Josh Johnson (13 pts) could help their cause on the day center forward Sam Gombya showed up with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Pacey point guard Mark Okidi added11 points for the Warriors who this year are a work in progress after losing one of their shooters Henry Malinga to the KIU Titans.

In the other match of the night, the UCU Canons inflicted another defeat to the Star Times Falcons with Ivan Lumanyika and Brian Namake leading the University side with 21 and 16 points respectively.

Lumanyika (7 rebounds) and Namake (5 rebounds & 8 assists) together with Innocent Odour (14 points and 9 assists) were on top of their game as UCU bagged their 5th victory of the season.

Ariel Okal, Stephen Omony and Joseph Ouma were the only players in double figures for the Falcons with 19,15 and 13 points respectively for the Falcons who remain on top of the standings despite the defeat.
