Pilgrims from Soroti Catholic dioceses are dedicating this year's Martyrs Day celebrations for praying to God to enable the dioceses get a new bishop after spending close to two years without one.

In January 2014, the Pope elevated the bishop of Soroti, Emmanuel Obbo, to Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese leaving Soroti dioceses without a bishop to date.

"That is the prayer for every Christian for God to choose for us a bishop and we dedicate this year's Martyrs day celebrations to pray for that," said Peter Ecolu.

Ecolu who is part of the forty pilgrims from Soroti set off on Tuesday morning on a bus to join other Christians across the globe to celebrate the Uganda Martyrs.
