Masaka diocese pilgrims have started their great trek to Namugongo ahead of this year’s Uganda Martyr’s Day celebration.
They set off at 1:55am in Kitovu with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Edward Ssekabanja.
Their journey has attracted over 700 pilgrims from parishes within Masaka diocese.
Fr. Ssekabanja explained to the pilgrims the benefits of taking the journey and advised them on how to behave while trekking.
He pointed out areas where pilgrims are expected to rest during the 4 days journey.
“We will walk only throughout the night and rest during day. We shall have stop-overs in Lukaya, St. Balikuddembe Mitala Maria, St. Maria Gorret Nalukolongo and Namugongo, our final destination,” explained Fr. Ssekabanja.
