KYANKWANZI -  The FDC supporters in Kyankwanzi district on Tuesday grilled the party president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu for failing to establish offices in the district.

Muntu addressed the party supporters in Ntwetwe town council and Ntunda trading center in Bananywa sub-county to mobilize them to take part in the party grass root elections and leadership from village to national level.

Supporters complained of lack of offices which has made mobilization for the party activities difficult.

“The number of party supporters has since 2006 been reducing just because there are no office to coordinate them,” Dan Rwogwa, a party supporter in Ntwetwe, said.

Joseph Kiyingi, FDC chairperson in Butemba sub-county said that although several landlords expressed desire to offer space for the party offices, they were worried of the leadership's ability and willingness to pay rent.

Samuel Kibirige, who contested on the FDC party ticket for the youth council leadership in Ntwetwe town council in the 2011 elections, said that they failed to compete fairly with NRM candidates since they have no physical address to coordinate them and offer financial support.

The party supporters asked Muntu to streamline the party’s campaign agenda by categorically stating all what they intended to do for the people other than talk about Museveni and his group as a campaign platform.

Muntu called on all party supporters in all districts without offices to mobilize funds and facilitate their establishment as one of their noble contribution to the party.

“The National Executive Council of the party resolved that party offices in the districts be handled by party supporters and well wishers and many have done so in a number of districts,” he said.

He asked the party members not to yield to intimidation from police and other security agencies who are trying to scare them away from the cause of government charge.

Muntu said industrialization, education, security; deepening democratic principles among others were the focus of the FDC.

The national mobilizer, Bbaale Bwanika, said the party is to ensure leadership in all villages countrywide in order to strengthen the party at the grassroots.

He said the challenge has been intimidation of party supporters by security agencies.

Bwanika said this has been mostly experienced in Luweero triangle, home to several bush war veterans.
