Muhanga eyes Burahya seat

SEVENTEEN Kabarole district councilors have endorsed Margaret Muhanga as the NRM sole candidate for the Burahya County in the 2016 general elections. 

Muhanga is the former woman MP Kabarole district 2006-2011. Muhanga is contesting for NRM flag bearer for Burahya County 2016 general elections is competing with incumbent Steven Kagwera, Patrick Bamanyisa Black, John Businge, Deo Mugisa and Paul Katisa.

During the meeting held at Toro Resort in East Division, Fort Portal Munciplaity, the councilors disclosed that the incumbent MP Steven Kagwera has not done developmental things in their constituency.

Clovice Mugabo, representing Mugusu Sub County, revealed that some of the constituencies like Bunyangabu have left them in terms of education, health, job creation, electricity among others.

"If you go to other constituencies that are when you will know that we have been left behind. Here about 85% of the households have no electricity, our schools are under performing because our MP failed to lobby," Mugabo said Richard Nyakana district councilor Busoro Sub County said that they are going spare their time and life to see Muhanga wins the NRM elections.

"We need a leader who can go to parliament and take people's problems than keep loitering in villages. We need a leader who represents people's interests not personal," Nyakana said Meanwhile, Jorum Bintamanya chairperson Forum for Democratic Change

(FDC) Fort Portal municipality disclosed that other opposition members are ready to support Muhanga for the development of Burahya and Kabarole district at large.

"She is a leader above others, we shall support her despite being in NRM, we want someone who can work," Bintamanya said Meanwhile, Patrick Bamanyisa described the decision as party confusion.

"For me I'm waiting for them, in the general elections. Let them sort themselves we shall face each other in the race," Bamanyisa said. 

Among the 17 councilors who have endorsed Muhanga include Stella Kyorampe female district councilor Kijura town council, Clovis Mugabo district speaker Mugusu sub county, Steven Munihira ,Richard Tatina,Kijura town council,  Rosemary Kabona, representing PWDs.

Others are Edison Businge the LC3 Hakibale, Emmanuel Tugume representing Kasenda, Charles Rutakirwa represting Kicwaba and Kato Pascal, Karago town council, Rose Kajubu representing Karambi and Gertrude Balinda for Rutete among others.
