The desire to have one strong united East African was the motivating factor behind Miss Uganda registering her participation in the Airtel Afrika Mashariki fest half marathon due May 30 in Kampala.
"I love my mother country but I feel that having one strong East African will be better for us all in the five East African countries," Leah Kalanguka told New Vision on Tuesday after registering for the event that has attracted top athletes in the East African region.
The event organizer Ronex Kisembo appealed to corporate companies and individuals to support the marathon.
Participants will compete in the 21km for only men and 10km for both men and women.
