The trial of the 13 men accused in the July 11, 2010 Kampala twin bombings, is scheduled to resume on June 8.

This was confirmed Monday by the judiciary's communications specialist, Solomon Muyita.

The accused are Hussein Hassan Agad, Idris Magondu, Isa Ahamed Luyima, Hassan Haruna Luyima, Abubakari Batematyo, and Yahya Suleiman Mbuthia.

Also included are Habib Suleiman Njoroge, Omar Awadh Omar, Mohammad Hamid Sulaiman, Seleman Hijar Nyamandondo, Mohammad Ali Mohammad, Dr Ismael Kalule, and Muzafar Luyima.

The announcement was shortly after a closed door meeting of prosecution, and defence teams, presided over by  the trial judge Alfonse Owiny-Dollo.

The case was halted on March 31, a day after lead prosecutor, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Joan Kagezi was assassinated.

Muyita disclosed that modalities on how to proceed had been thrashed out, and that the DPP has assembled a new look team of five prosecutors.

"The case will be handled by five prosecutors led by Suzan Okalany," Muyita stated, noting that she will be helped by Lino Anguzu - who was working with Kagezi - Thomas Jatiko, Rachael Bikhole and John Bosco Asiimwe.

The defence lawyers are Caleb Alaka, Onyango Owor, Yunus Kasirivu, Julius Galisonga, Evans Ochieng, and Annette Badda.

By the time Kagezi was slain, prosecution had so far produced one witness, self-confessed conspirator turned state witness Mahmoud Mugisha.

The trial will proceed with further cross-examination of Mugisha.

A total of 76 people perished in the two incidents that occurred at Kyadondo Rugby Club and the Ethiopian Village Restaurant in Kampala. Many were injured.

Revelers were watching the World Cup Final game between Spain and Holland, at the tournament played in South Africa.

The third bomb that had been planted at the Makindye House on the same day, was defused before it exploded.
