SC Victoria University won their second-last game of the Azam Premier League season against Bright Stars FC at Namboole stadium.

Mutyaba Muzamiru scored the only goal of the game to ensure that the hosts end this campaign strongly.

But it was a hard-earned victory as it could only come 20 minutes before time.

SCVU kicked off their season on a struggling note, compounded by the exit of many of their players, but gradually they have managed to climb out of the low days.

Despite finishing without a trophy, the Namboole side will look to staying in top-flight football for next season as an achievement itself, having courted the relegation zone for some time.

On their part, Bright Stars who are middle-table, came into the Friday away game three points behind their hosts.

Either side failed to find a way through in a drab first-half with very few chances registered in front of goal.

Morley Byekwaso’s side tapped the ball around with seemingly less pressure, but they could not engineer a breakthrough.

It was only possible in the 70th minute when Muzamiru buried the ball in the top-right corner from a swift pass by Muwada Mawejje.

The hope for additions to the scoreline was eventually snuffed out by the final whistle.

SCVU will wrap up their season with a trip to Jinja-based side BUL FC in their final fixture.

After registering no shot on goal, Bright Stars will play SC Villa in their last game of the campaign hoping to end on a high.
