PERFORMANCE ratings for the Cranes in the defeat of neighbours Tanzania in the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa qualifier first leg

Hamza Muwonge 7
He exhibited a high level of maturity with good game reading and command of his defence.

Nicholas Wadada 6
Wadada’s pace gave him the edge over Mrisho Ngasa, Tanzania’s main attacking threat. Wadada’s game reading was also spot on throughout the game.

Denis Iguma 8
The SCVU defender displayed his abilities as an all-rounder in his new role as an attacking midfielder. Iguma’s sense of movement on and off the ball and the timing of his runs is what gifted the Cranes with the only goal of the day.

Savio Kabugo 5
The youthful defender has not really blended well with the team after time away in South Africa for a trial stint and barely trained during the past week. He struggled to contain hulking Tanzanian striker John Bocco on so many occasions.

Brian Majwega 6
Majwega kept Tanzania’s right back busy as he utilised his ability to cross, pace and one-on-one skills sufficiently even though the strikers were guilty of wasting his deliveries.

Hassan Wasswa 6
He captained the team and commanded the midfield well in some spells and broke up many of the opponents’ attacks.

Said Kyeyune 5
He was industrious and often made himself available behind the attackers but he largely had a quiet game.

Tonny Odur 3
He lasted only 10 minutes into the game and had not really made any impact when he picked an injury and could not continue.

Patrick Edema 5
Edema remained upfront as the lone strikers, was outnumbered and failed to trouble the defence. His lack of pace was cruelly exposed.

Frank Kalanda  4
The midfielder came on for Tonny Odur who picked up a groin injury early in the game.  He played almost 80 minutes but had a quite game.

Ivan Ntege 3
Replaced Patrick Edema but had little time to make any sort of impact on the game.

Micho Sredejovic  8
The Serb demonstrated his sufficient knowledge of Tanzanian football so much that even with his patched-up side; he managed to assign players to new roles and they responded with a solid performance.

Micho set up his team to frustrate Tanzania and return with a positive result ahead of the second leg which was achieved. Never mind the drubbing in his first match in charge of the Cranes; he has won three successive competitive games.
