MOSES Magogo launched his manifesto as the next FUFA president with a call for unity among football stakeholders.
“Whoever wants to join the train to develop the game of football, you are welcome to the wagon,” appealed Magogo who will take the reins of local football’s top job next month.
Magogo’s call comes at a time when the legitimacy of the federation he is about to head is being questioned by some sections in the football fraternity.
“In football we are supposed to be one family. Therefore we will continue to put in place means, activities and programs to foster cooperation, friendship and co-existence.”
Speaking at the Manifesto launch at Ivy’s Hotel yesterday , Magogo said they will continue strengthening reconciliatory means. This was Magogo’s first public address since emerging as the sole candidate from the federation’s nomination process.
Kampala Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko and Internal Security Deputy Director Taban Amin also showed interest in the job but couldn’t meet the football requirements.
Magogo, flanked by part of his executive, appealed to the public to give them a chance. “We hope we are given the opportunity to showcase the big ideas that we have.” I am not merely talking to impress. I am a person who walks his talk.
His quest for excellence will have him setting performance targets for key actors in the federation. “We need performance indicators for everybody in FUFA. If we cannot meet our targets we have no business in this game.
Magogo conceded that he can’t match the financial muscle of outgoing president Lawrence Mulindwa. But he said that with proper accountability and marketing they would be able to generate funds.
His plans include training for all stakeholders, establishment schools of excellence and improvement of external relations and communication.
“In order to boost income generation, I will spearhead the commercialization of properties. A deliberate policy to nurture various products and rights from potential to desired state will be laid,” reads his manifesto in part.
