Local inter-forces games organizers are looking towards maximizing the opportunities of having to involve their athletes into a number of various local and international activities starting this season.

The games have for the past 11 years been focusing at tapping local talent and bringing forces together. But according to the hosts, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) executive director Andrew Seguya, they opted to look further.

“Initially the games were held every November but have been rescheduled to May in a bid to catch up with the new seasons in the various sports disciplines.

“We opted to change the dates with an aim of giving our athletes chance to be spotted for various sporting events. The initial
dates were always very late because most seasons would be closing so it wouldn’t be of help,” Seguya stated at a press briefing.

He added that the 12th edition with the theme ‘Enhancing wildlife Conservation and Security through Sports’, is also intended
to build a strong relationship amongst the forces in a bid to safeguard the countries wildlife.

“Although it is a sporting event, it’s also the only platform we get to meet other forces and tell them the need to conserve our environment,” he added.

The two-week event will attract over 1,000 participants from Uganda Police, UPDF, Uganda Prisons Service and UWA.
