Lweza FC were dumped out of the Uganda Cup after suffering a second leg semi-final defeat to KCC FC, thanks to a strike by Herman Wasswa.

The attacker scored the only goal in the first leg at the Phillip Omondi stadium, and he replicated his effort in the return leg to put KCC through by an aggregate score of 2-0.

KCC have now qualified for the final of the competition for the second consecutive year, having beaten URA FC last year.

For Lweza, it was a similar script to that of the previous year, only it was one level down. They were eliminated from the tournament at the quarter-final stage, again at the hands of KCC.

They have failed to register a win over the Lugogo-based side in all competitions.

Coach Abdallah Mubiru was disappointed with his side first-leg performance, despite taking the advantage, and looked to produce a better display in the return leg. But he only saw his men play out more or less a similar game as the first, managing a slender win – through the same man – that eventually took them to the final.

His opposite, Hamza Kalanzi, felt his team would manage to turn around that first result, but hardly.

Battling relegation in the Azam Premier League as the season nears the end, Lweza hoped to at least win the Uganda Cup but came short.

They squandered an opportunity to level the score when Geoffrey Sserunkuma failed to tap home.

KCC, who have had their own struggles in the race for the league title, held on to their advantage and made life even harder for the hosts when Wasswa scored again.

They face rivals SC Villa, who like their final opponents, beat BUL FC 2-0 over two legs in the semi-final to set up a highly anticipated finale.

The winner of the Uganda Cup will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
