Champions MUBS have resolved to strengthen the team in order to retain the Nile Special University Football League this year. MUBS booked a quarterfinal place against Kyambogo.

MUBS unexpectedly struggled to qualify for the quarterfinals in Group B, winning only two matches, drawing two and losing their last match 1-0 to Uganda Christian University.

Coach Charles Ayeko attributed their 'under performance' to poor strikers in the team and said he has identified players, who will have to be admitted in the July intake for them to play in the quarterfinals in August.

Musa Etheno was MUBS only reliable striker in the group stage matches and finished as their top scorer with four goals in as many matches.

"It is good we shall resume the competition in August. I have already lined up strikers for trials and possible admission if they accept to apply for admission in MUBS. Indeed we underperformed. Strikers Derrick Kyega and David Ninsiima finished the group without a goal. It shows how poor our striking line was," Ayeko said from Rwanda on Sunday.

KIU beat Gulu 3-1 and Ndejje overcame Busitema 4-2 to advance to the knockout stage.
