The Royal council chairperson of the Alur Kingdom, Jacintos Chanwat said the enactment of an Alur bye-law has led to reduced anti-social behaviors in the districts of Nebbi and Zombo
Chanwat said the by-law condemns indecent dressing, excessive consumption of alcohol and spending many days on traditional marriages.
He says traditional marriages are supposed to take one day such that the girl’s family does not spend all the bride price on accommodating visitors.
Chanwat also emphasized that the marriage ceremony should take place during day to prevent early pregnancies among teenagers who tend to flock such places.
