THE South Korean Ambassador to Uganda has urged the youth in the country to commit energies in improving the quality of agricultural products to compete with other products on the international markets.

“Agriculture in the country had improved a lot but it was still on a small scale basis and must be scaled up to boost their incomes and raise more revenue for the country. Adding quality to the products would help the youth earn more money and even their products can dominate the international market.

My take is to continue working hard and continue improving our commodities so that they can be of a very good and high quality,” said Park Jong-Dae at the handover of 20 computers to the youth in Mukono North constituency at his embassy in Kampala on Thursday morning.

He handed the computers to the area Member of Parliament Ronald Kibuule who is the patron of the youth group in the district.

Kibuule who is also the state minister for Water and Environment urged the youth in his area to embrace this opportunity.

“This donation would go an extra mile in provision of education to the citizens concerning the modern agriculture, value addition, research and marketing,” he explained.

Kibuule added that the donation is also part of South Korea’s wider effort to assist Uganda in human resource development.

“The 20 computers would be utilized for youths’ training programs and courses. We are glad that more Ugandan youths will now have access to computers and are able to acquire IT skills. Such skills not only boost the employment prospects of the youths, but also enhance Uganda’s economic competitiveness,” Kibuule said.
