MUKONO district environment officer, Anna Maria Nakimbugwe perished in a road accident which occurred at Namanve industrial park near Rwenzori bottling company factory on Kampala-Jinja Highway.

Nakimbugwe who was driving a Nadia registration number UAS 205S had a head on collision with a Tipper Isuzu registration number UAR 671J which left her and one of her children with severe injuries and in critical condition.

Mukono Chief Administration Officer, Luke Lokuda said that Nakimbugwe was carrying two of her children from Kampala for medical check-up.

The children are Joy Kwagala, a student at Namilyango Senior Secondary School and Jonathan Kuteesa (7), a primary four pupil at Namiryango Junior Boys School.

Nakimbugwe passed away after reaching Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital where she was rushed after the accident on Monday evening.

The deceased is the daughter of former LCV Chairman for Mukono district and former Mengo Minister Wasswa Kanakulya Bbanga.

Kuteesa is still hospitalised at Nsambya hospital and he has been diagnosed with two blood clots in the brain, while his older sister, Kwagala was by press time steadily recovering at home in Seeta.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck was over speeding when he lost control hence causing a head-on collision with Nakimbugwe’s Toyota Nadia.

Mukono District Police Commander, Abraham Tukundane said that they had started investigations to find out what was the actual cause of the accident.

“Right now the driver of a tipper lorry is also admitted at Mulago hospital. I have sent there an investigating officer to record a statement from him which will help us in our investigations,” Tukundane said.
