Musician Harriet Kisakye passes on

Local musician Harriet Kisakye dies at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) in Kisugu, Namuwongo after suffering an illness.

KAMPALA - Local musician Harriet Kisakye has died at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) in Kisugu, Namuwongo.

Kisakye, who has been battling an unclear illness, was transferred from Mulago hospital to IHK on Thursday after her condition deteriorated.

She was hospitalised at Mulago Referral Hospital in Kampala two weeks ago with a septic wound on her forearm that reportedly got worse despite continuous interventions.

On Thursday former FDC president Kizza Besigye came to the singer's rescue when he went to Mulago hospital and requested for her to be transferred to IHK in Kisugu - Namuwongo after being briefed about her worsening condition.

Besigye had been briefed by medics at Mulago that Kisakye had liver, kidney and lung complications and the organs were not functioning well.

The singer was famous for songs like Gyenvudde tebibadde birungi, Kandahar and Kinigeria.
