Police in Arua have impounded 102 motorcycles over traffic related offences. Police said the operation was aimed at reducing accidents in the region.

Police in Arua have impounded 102 motorcycles over traffic related offences. Police said the operation was aimed at reducing accidents in the region.
The offences include; lack of or expired third party insurance, those without number plates and in dangerous mechanical condition. Riders without helmets were also arrested.
Regional police publicist, Josephine Angucia, said the operation stems from increasing number of accidents in the region.
The number of accidents are on the rise especially new good roads namely: Vurra, Arua, Koboko and Oraba.
She said the operation will be rolled out in other towns and will be conducted on a regular basis.
