Makerere University football team confirmed their position in the quarter finals of the Nile Special University Football League after a 1-1 draw with Kampala University and the disciplinary committee decision for their match with Kyambogo last week.

Makerere (10 points now) came from a goal down to draw with Kampala University at their main grounds on Wednesday, thanks to towering Joshua Lubwama’s brilliant header in the second half. Frank Ssebuliba had also put Kampala University in the lead with a header.

The result leaves Kampala University (2points now) with no option but to win against Uganda Martyrs in their last group match and hope that results of the other matches favour them to advance to the quarterfinals.

The disciplinary committee of the league also announced their verdict, giving Makerere three points and two goals from the match that failed to kick off against Kyambogo University last week. The committee singled out Kyambogo’s failure to provide adequate security to allow the match to be played.
