Uganda Super League (USL) director Fred Muwema has said that FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa’s decision to quit soccer administration at Mengo does not mark the end of football problems in the country.

In a release circulated to the press on Tuesday, Muwema argues that Mulindwa had given up football administration because his style was not sustainable. He has dismissed the current federation saying that it was not established under the law.

He has said that football leadership in the country requires complete overhaul to create proper national structures. Muwema warned that he would challenge election of any new offi ce bearers in the forthcoming FUFA elections on August 31.

“There cannot be a FUFA election unless FUFA is established in accordance with the

law and the purported election will be challenged under the law,” Muwema noted.

While a score of his friends have urged him to step in and contest the federation leadership in a bid to streamline the administration at Mengo, Muwema said that he prefers to continue exerting pressure on FUFA officials from outside though he later declared his interest

“Creating a sound FUFA under the law with proper national structures is more important than resignation of Mulindwa and his entire executive,” Muwema wrote.
